Caribbean Poker

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Caribbean poker is a casino game with rules similar to five card stud poker,
played on a standard blackjack-sized table. As its name implies, this
poker game originated in the Caribbean islands, and it soon spread to
casinos in America and Europe.

The player’s goal is to beat the dealer’s hand. Initially, a player places a bet called
Ante. After being dealt cards, the player may place another (calling)
bet worth twice the Ante bet and challenge the dealer, or surrender,
losing the Ante bet.

Caribbean Poker is unique in that it offers a chance to win a progressive jackpot.

Caribbean poker is a casino game with rules similar to five-card stud poker,
played on a standard blackjack-sized table. As its name implies, this
poker game originated in the Caribbean islands, and it soon spread to
casinos in America and Europe. However, unlike standard poker games,
Caribbean poker is played against the house rather than against other
players.

Caribbean Poker is played with a standard 52-card deck of cards. At the end of the round, the player and dealer compare hands formed from their five cards dealt. The player’s goal is to beat the dealer’s hand.

Initially, a player places a bet called Ante. After being dealt cards, the player may place
another (calling) bet worth twice the Ante bet and challenge the dealer, or surrender, losing the Ante bet.

Caribbean Poker is unique in that it offers a chance to win a progressive jackpot.

How to Play

Placing Ante bet
First, you need to place an Ante bet. To place a bet, use betting chips found
at the bottom right part of the table. To select a chip, click the desired chip with the left mouse button. You may need several chips to reach the desired bet amount; in this case the stack of chips will be formed on the betting area. To place a chip, use one of the ways
provided below:
• Click Ante betting area to place the chosen chip.
•Drag and drop the chosen chip on Ante betting area.
• Click Repeat button to place a bet equal to the previous one (Note: in case it is your first
bet, Repeat control is disabled).

The betting limits are displayed in the frame at the top left side of the game table.

Removing/Decreasing a bet
To remove a bet completely or decrease its value, you need to remove a chip (chips) placed. You may do it in several ways:
• Click and drag chips from the table to the betting chips area
• Select ‘X’ chip and then click the chip/stack of chips placed. The chips will be removed one by one.
• Press CTRL and then left click the chip/stack of chips placed. The chips will be removed one by one.
• Click Clear control to remove all the chips currently placed on the table.

Placing Bonus Bet
You have an opportunity to place a bonus bet to participate in a progressive jackpot game (for details refer to Progressive Jackpot section).

• Click the table slot to place a bet that equals 1 unit in base currency. Once clicked, a chip is entered into the slot. After the chip is inserted into it, light indicators are switched on (see the figure below).

Dealing

• Use Deal button to start dealing cards.
Five cards are dealt to you face up. The dealer also receives 5 cards, four cards – face down and the last one – face up. In case the winning combination is formed, the indicator appears on the top of the hand (like “Three of a Kind” or “One Pair”).

If the cards do not make any valid combination, “No hand” indicator appears.

Now, you should evaluate the hands and decide whether to continue the game and double with a calling bet or stop the game and surrender.

Bet or Surrender
• To surrender, click Surrender control. In this case, the ante bet is lost. The dealer’s cards are then revealed, but the game is over.
Caribbean Poker 3
• To continue playing, click Bet button. Once clicked, the calling bet is placed. The calling bet equals twice the amount of the Ante. To indicate that the calling bet is placed, the second stack of chips appears on Bet betting area. The dealer’s cards are revealed.

Qualifying the Dealer’s hand
The dealer’s hand must contain at least the Ace/King hand (containing, at least, one King and one Ace) to qualify. Once the dealer’s cards are revealed, “Dealer qualifies” or “Dealer does not qualify” message appears.
Note: To start playing a new game round, click New Game button, to repeat the previous bet(s) use Repeat control.

Progressive Jackpot
In the Caribbean Poker game, you are also given the option of playing for the progressive jackpot. The progressive jackpot is an accumulation prize; it becomes higher the more players play for the jackpot prize. The jackpot amount is accumulated from % of every bonus bet.

To play for the progressive jackpot, you must make a side bet at the start
of the game.

You are wagering that you will receive a hand of cards that equals to a flush or better. Regardless of the outcome of the regular table game, if you have a hand that qualifies for the progressive jackpot, you will be paid according to the jackpot payout table.

Poker Hand name Payoff
Royal Flush 100% of the Jackpot
Straight Flush 10% of the Jackpot
Four of a Kind 500
Full House 100
Flush 50

Game Results / Payouts

In case the player selects to continue the game by placing the calling bet, there can occur several situations:
1. The Dealer’s hand does not qualify. Then the players receive a 1 to 1 payout on their Ante Bet, and the calling bet is returned to them without any additional winnings.
2. The Dealer’s hand qualifies. Then player’s and dealer’s hands are compared.
• If the player’s hand beats the dealer’s hand, the player receives 1 to 1 on the Ante Bet, plus the winnings on the calling bet, which are calculated according to the hand’s value (refer to Payout Table below).
• If the player’s hand is lower then the Dealer’s hand, the player loses all bets.
3. If the dealer’s and the player’s hands are equal, this is a tie game; no one wins or loses. In this case, both the ante and the calling bet are returned to the player.

Note: In case of win ‘You won’ message appears on the top of the player’s hand, indicating the win amount as well.
